About me

Picture
I am a Computational Linguist developing Norwegian for the automotive industry. My field is Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning.

I got my  PhD degree in Linguistics in 2020 at at the University of Leipzig where I worked as a research assistant in the IGRA graduate program.   My PhD thesis was on the morphophonological properties of tone in Nuer and is based on fieldwork and phonetic experiments  in Ethiopia. My supervisors were: Jochen Trommer,  Bert Remijsen , Tamara Rathcke and Eva Zimmermann .
I received my Master's degree at the Humboldt University of Berlin in Theoretical Linguistics and did my Bachelor in German, French and Spanish at the University of Oslo.

Research Interests

My main research interests are in phonetics and phonology. I have conducted several experiments and analyzed the results statistically in R.
My speciality is prosody and tone  and their interfaces with morphology and syntax. I have mainly worked on Bantu languages (Makhuwa, Xitsonga, Bàsàa, Limbum) and the topic of my MA thesis was 'Downstep in Kikuyu'. In this study, I analyzed Kikuyu downstep in the Edge-Based approach of Syntax-Phonology interface proposing a stratal OT analysis. In the empirical part of my work I did an acoustic analysis of recorded data.
